Social Media Campaign

This page showcases my Social Media Campaign and provides a greater understanding of what I did during it. We were doing a social media campaign to promote our graphic design work and help attract people to our stands during the end-of-year exhibition.

Instagram Account

Logo

This was the Instagram account I created for my Social Media Campaign. I wanted to make a very professional Instagram business account, as it would look good for my portfolio if I had a professional demeanour. The work that I had showcased on my Instagram account was varied. I scheduled all my posts for the time that I was told was when most people used Instagram to help generate some revenue and grab people's attention. Whilst doing my posts, I also used hashtags that I found were relevant to the work. I also added my website URL in the bio of my Instagram to showcase my website. I did research into how to stand out on Instagram and create the perfect Instagram profile for businesses.

Why I chose Instagram

The reason that I chose Instagram was because it was something that it was a form of social media that I was very familiar with, and I find it rather easy to navigate. It also helped that I already had quite a popular Instagram account, so I could transfer some followers from my popular Instagram to my graphic design one. So that is why I chose Instagram.

Linkedin Account

This is my LinkedIn profile, which I have had for quite a while, but have recently started updating with posts of my work. I created my LinkedIn account back in 2021, I am now using it to help promote myself further with my posts and the new designs that I have come up with with the new University term. I have started by posting photos of the new logo designs that I created for my group project last term. With my LinkedIn posts, I give a brief explanation of what the post is and add hashtags similar to those of the Instagram account, such as #Design, #Logos and #Transmedia. I did research into how to write successful LinkedIn posts and steps to a better LinkedIn post, which helped.

Time Management

This is a mock-up Gantt chart that has been created to help represent what my schedule is when developing a series of posts for my social media accounts. This Gantt chart shows what I have to do step by step to create my posts for my social media accounts. I wanted to help give a realistic timeframe as to how long it takes to develop my social media posts. I did some research into how to plan and schedule posts, which helped with the understanding of how to plan out better and make a successful timetable.

Storyboard

Logo

This is the storyboard I had created for a week's worth of posts for my Instagram and LinkedIn. I created this storyboard to help me get a greater understanding of what I should post, what I should put for my captions, and what hashtags I should use that I feel are most appropriate. This storyboard is just to help give me a greater understanding and to give me a bit of a layout of what I need to post and what I should write. This storyboard changes each week. I researched how to storyboard, which helped me design and create my storyboards.

I create new storyboards to help me gain a better understanding of what I should post next and what I should write for captions. This helps me to keep track.

This is the new storyboard that I have created to help showcase what I will post next week. In this storyboard, I showcase that my next posts and Instagram and LinkedIn will be of what I created for my World War 2 group project called myValeaRn, where I developed the main menu and pause menu. I create new storyboards each week, and the writing in my storyboards is the captions that I will be adding to the posts that I create.

How I managed to get my audience

How I got my audience when it comes to my more popular social media account, Instagram, is that it is quite simple; I simply transferred some of my followers from my other Instagram account to this one. I have an audience as well on LinkedIn, although it is rather smaller. I only have about 3 followers on LinkedIn, which results in my not gaining a mass following on LinkedIn and not much recognition. I managed to get my followers on LinkedIn through people I know, and found my LinkedIn requesting to follow me, and me accepting it was that simple.

Mood Boards

Here are some mood boards that helped to give me a greater understanding of what I wanted my Instagram to look like. The look I was going for with my Instagram was a professional Instagram, as I thought that a professional Instagram was suitable for my Instagram, which showcased my work and helped to give an audience an understanding that I am a professional worker who gets my work done on time to the right degree.

Here is an example of some Instagram graphic design business accounts that I find to be an inspiration for what I want my Instagram business account to look like. These are all graphic design business accounts that I like due to the fact of there simplicity and the way they show their work. I also just find the work that is shown in these Instagram accounts to be interesting and quite inspiring, and would like to incorporate their style onto my Instagram.

Personal branding

Logo

This is the logo image that I use as my branding, as this is the same brand that I use for my portfolio website, so I thought that it would only be suitable to use it as well for my Instagram account, as it helps to give my website more recognition and also makes my Instagram stand out. I created this logo by paying for the photo with the bird flying out of the screen, then I added an ellipse around it and added a stroke to the ellipse, and that is how I created this logo. I did some research into how to create a successful personal brand, which helped me come up with mine.

Design Journey

Here is a slideshow showing some of my design journey from concept to finished piece, such as the many logo variations/concepts I went through till the finished Airlock logo. Also showing the design journey from storyboard to Instagram post.

Analysis

Here, I will analyse my top 3 Instagram Posts that have done best by getting the most views and reach during my whole social media campaign.

Logo

This is a look at my home page for my website portfolio since this post the home page home page has changed since this post. The home page is just to showcase my brand and to give a brief introduction to my website. Whilst the post itself was made to advertise my website portfolio, I'm glad that this post has gained the most attention, as it means a lot of people have been looking at my website.

Logo

This post showcases the many logo variations that I have gone through for the game that I am helping develop, called Airlock. The game went through many variations, especially because I was trying to incorporate an airlock into the logo one way or another, and it took many tries. I did research into the top principles for great logo design, which did help with the creation of these logos.

Logo

This is what the final logo design for Airlock looks like now. As you can see, we managed to incorporate an airlock by showing what an airlock does when opened, rather than putting an airlock itself, as we thought that this was more creative and suitable.

Logo

This is another design I did is the pause menu that I had designed for the environment-friendly electric car game. The pause menu was designed through Photoshop and it was made quite simply I used the shapes tool from Photoshop to design the novel and squares in the pause menus I got the thunderbolt that you see in the background of the photo by using the internet to grab a free image of a thunderbolt the reason I used a thunderbolt was to help represent the electric cars that are in the game and help represent the environment-friendly nature of the game.

Social Media accounts then and now

This is what my Instagram account looks like now after doing my social media campaign. As you can see, I have managed to gain quite a lot of new followers, most likely due to the 3 weekly posts that I have been doing as a way to grab some more media attention and gain more followers. I believe that this is quite a big upgrade from what my Instagram page used to look like, and I am glad how far it has come.

Linkedin 2

As you can see earlier on this page, in the first LinkedIn section that I only have a couple of posts on my LinkedIn account. Well, here are all the new posts that I have added to my LinkedIn account to help showcase just how far my LinkedIn account has come and what new posts I have added to my account. I think that my LinkedIn has vastly improved since the beginning.

Insights

These are insights into how my view count and content interactions have increased over a month from the 15th of March to the 15th of April. This helps to give a clearer understanding of how my Instagram has progressed over that month. It was done by doing 3 posts regularly and trying to consistently post 3 times a week to help get a routine going and create a bigger audience.
